With
Springbrook located in Ballville Township right off of East
Cole road, residents have easy access to many of Fremont's amenities.
Just a short distance down the road, you'll find four of Fremont's
beautiful parks -Connor Park (Ballville), Walsh Park & Rodger
Young Park, and Fremont's Recreation Center.
Connor
Park has a baseball field, several basketball courts,
soccer fields, volleyball, and tennis courts where one can
practice their backhand swing. Shelter houses and a playground
can be found at the park as well, which are ideal for family
picnicking and more.
Walsh
and Rodger Young Park are located nearby off of Morrison
Road where the two parks border the banks of the Sandusky
River. Walsh Park is located on the east side of the river
and has large fields and long walking paths for children and
dogs to run through. Playground equipment and a shelter house
can be found here as well, which are ideal for picnics. A
fountain at the entrance of the park occasionally can draw
small weddings and marriage proposals. In the fall, Walsh
Park holds regular Fremont Ross High School cross country
meets, and the Park is the best place to watch the 4th of
July fireworks. Just across the river, Rodger Young Park is
the place where city little league games are played in the
spring and summer, and flag football games are carried out
in the fall.
With
the renovation of an old train bridge spanning the Sandusky
River in the spring of 2005, Walsh Park and Rodger Young Park
will be connected and patrons will be able to easily walk
between the two parks.
Fremont
Recreation Center is located just northeast of Springbrook
and can be reached in a short five minute drive. The Recreation
Center is furnished with a community pool that has two large
water slides and diving boards, and is home to Fremont's club
swim team. Adjacent to the pool is an ice hockey rink where
patrons can rent a pair of ice skates for a small fee and
test their legs on the ice. The ice rink is also the home
of Fremont Ross' Hockey team and several pee-wee leagues.
Out of the hot summer's rays and the cold breeze of the winter,
the Recreation Center has four courts that double as basketball
and volleyball courts. Overlooking the courts is an indoor
walking/running track and a collection of tread mills and
nautilus exercise machines.
In addition to all the parks located near Springbrook, the
neighborhood is also just a short drive from Historic Downtown
Fremont, where families can catch an evening movie at Paramount
Cinemas.
