Waters
Edge - Fremont, OH
Waters Edge is a mix-unit development consisting of
spacious and affordable condominiums, professional office
buildings and family oriented outdoor dinning. Located
on route 19 directly north of the route 20 overpass,
the property consists of 16 acres including an 8-acre
pond.
|
Waters
Edge was designed to create a new and fresh atmosphere
in Fremont, where the style and the placement of
the buildings take full advantage of the surroundings.
The inspiration for the project was the 8-acre pond
that is situated in the center of the development.
The pond is a wonderful natural asset to Waters
Edge, which has been contoured from its original
rectangle shape. Around the edge of the pond, scattered
rock embankments, cattails, evergreen and deciduous
trees, ornamental grasses, duck boxes and flowering
shrubs have been added to further enhance the shoreline. |
 |
The
design of the buildings at Waters Edge will be as appealing
as the landscaping that surrounds them. Each type of
building, from the condominiums to the professional
offices and the restaurant, will be designed to have
its own personal characteristics. However, the overall
design of the different buildings will have a consistent
coastal dimension. In addition to the landscaping around
the pond, groupings of evergreens, broad leafs, and
willow trees will be added between the buildings.
Condominiums
The
triplex condominiums planned for Waters Edge have been
designed by Mark Schrickel to take full advantage of
the location. The design elements were influenced by
the coastal architecture found around Lake Erie and
the New England coastline. Each condominium building
consists of three residences. All triplex residences
consist of two bedrooms, with the master suite located
at the rear of the residence overlooking the pond. The
open floor plans include a spacious kitchen with a breakfast
bar, eating and living areas with a water view, 1 or
2 bathrooms and ample closet space. The residences include
a sliding glass door that opens onto a backyard patio
overlooking the pond. The two end residences each have
a two car attached garage and the center residence has
a single car attached garage. An optional cathedral
ceiling and 6ft. half circle window will further enhance
the view. An individual condominium residence is now
starting at $129,500. To see a list of open residences

a breakfast bar, dining room and living areas with a
water view. The master suite is also located at the
rear of the residence overlooking the pond and features
a large walk-in closet and full bath. Bedroom # 2 has
a walk-in closet and easy access to another full bath.
A 3rd guest room or study is located off the entry.
The residences include a sliding glass door that opens
up onto a backyard patio overlooking the pond and a
two car attached garage. An optional cathedral ceiling
and 6ft. half circle window will further enhance the
view.

Restaurant
& Commercial Site
Waters
Edge development includes a restaurant site at the corner
of route 19 and Dickinson Street. The type of restaurant
desired for the site is a family style restaurant that
will consist of a casual sit down dinning atmosphere.
It is anticipated that the restaurant will take full
advantage of the ability to have outdoor dinning on
the water, in the form of a landscaped outdoor patio
or deck.
The
west shoreline (the property fronting on route 19) and
one lot at the north end (off of Dickinson Street) of
Waters Edge are currently allocated for the use of retail
and office space. A coastal building style will be continued
in the design of the retail and office building. The
commercial lots are planned to accommodate professional
offices, retail space and other service oriented businesses.
The concept behind the commercial lots was to create
an area where businesses have high visibility and access
by their clients, while also being located in a relaxing
and appealing atmosphere. Clients and customers can
have safe and plentiful off-street parking while conducting
business in a sophisticated establishment in an area
overlooking a beautifully landscaped pond.
While
the site plan currently shows buildings on the commercial
sites, in the case of the restaurant, retail and office
space sites, buildings have yet to be designed. Buildings
will be designed and built according to lot size, required
square footage, and type of business. While buildings
can be designed and built to customers needs, they must
adhere to design restrictions so that a consistent theme
resonates throughout the entire development.
